The Autumn started encouragingly with the promise of some quality indoor Ultimate and the return of some winter outdoor Ultimate in the North in the form of RAW. Steal put in a decent performance at Sheffield Beginners and Birmingham Warm-Up, but an administrative cock-up meant there was no outing at UKU Indoor Qualifiers this season.

Loads of new things to mention in this update including the Sheffield Hat!  Entry opened up a couple of weeks ago and the uptake of places was good (for a bit) but now seems to have dried up...  I'm planning more advertising to boost numbers but there have been some venue issues and until I can sort that out, I can't confirm any prices or anything!

So much has been and gone over the 2010-11 winter, it's hard to know where to begin!  I reckon I'll skip over the cold cold months and right on to the fabulous Mix & Mingle!  Once again we had 24 teams descend on Ponds Forge for an excellent mix of competitive Ultimate and 80s fun!

I guess it's no longer a surprise that it has taken me an age to write up the Sheffield Hat, and most of what I remembered I've long since forgotten!  We've had UMIR-North (sponsored by ilovetour) come and go as well, not to mention the tournaments I've played at like Newcastle Warm-up and Sheffield Beginners!

Maybe I'll be able to get back into writing an update once a month...  Is it too early for a New Year's resolution?!

So this year was the first time UK Ultimate held regional qualifiers for Open Nationals.  The reason behind this change in the structure were twofold:

1. The National Championship Series is to be a competition that any and all Ultimate teams in the UK can enter.

2. Promotion of smaller, more locally-based Ultimate competitions.

The last couple of months have flown by with any number of things taking up my time.  I've continued to plan upcoming tournaments, done some work with the UKU Competitions Committee and moved house.  Not to mention my training for, and taking part in, the Right To Play Brussels-London Cycle!

We held the prize draw originally planned for Resurrection this weekend at Copa Del Soul.  Over 200 tickets were sold, and about £170 raised, which I will increase to a round £200.

It feels like ages since I have posted anything here so I thought it was time to give you an update, and show that I have not been sat on my lazy bum doing nothing!

A large amount of effort, dating back to before Christmas, turned out to be for nothing this week as I was forced to cancel Resurrection.  With ten teams pulling out over the last four weeks, it just became too small an event to be viable.  Annoyed as I am at those teams for pulling out, I guess some of the blame must lie with me.

This weekend saw an excellent Mix & Mingle take place with two nights of partying and two long days of high quality Ultimate, all with a cracking eighties soundtrack.

With just one week to go until Mix & Mingle, I seem to be as busy as ever trying to sort out all the final details.  I left my job in the NHS a couple of weeks ago to focus on my events work and I don't seem to have stopped for any length of time since then!  

Finally the new Easter tournament is confirmed and it is going to be called RESURRECTION.  Entry is now open via the ffindr website and all the details can be found right here.

Just to keep everyone up-to-date before it goes quiet for the Christmas period.  I have various bits of exciting event news to share with you all, but my mouth must remain zipped regarding one of these at the current time...

Where to begin...  A lot has happened in the last month so I will try not to miss anything out!

I'll start with Uni Women's.  This tournament was a great success.  24 teams took part and all feedback received on the weekend was very positive.  

This weekend was the annual Sheffield Beginners event, held at my favourite indoor venue, Ponds Forge.  I was playing for the Naughty Strawberries and we finished 6th in the experienced division, with my old mixed team Don't Let Go finishing 1st.  

It's been a while since I have written anything but that is due to being very busy!  As the new UKU Indoors Director of Competitions, I have been busy with the bid process for Open Indoor Qualifiers and Mixed Indoor Nationals.

The Copa Cabana tournament in Nottingham took place this weekend and was amazing as ever!  Such a brilliantly run event every year, I know I can learn a lot from it.

Hey all, I've had this week off real employment so have been putting it to relatively good use!  The website has been updated with a new layout and changes to the Who is? and Right To Play pages, and its new .com domain is all set up and working. 

I have good news people.  Today I received an email confirming that the sporting charity Right To Play is going to get involved with ninety2 and vice versa.  

Right now I am sat in the pub with the cricket on.  Hilfenhaus has just scored his first ever runs in the first innings of a test match.  Typical that that should come against England!  Of course, I haven't set this up to muse over the state of our National Cricket team...
